Frequently
Asked QuestionsWhat kinds of kids attend
COPE? All kinds! Is COPE for bad
kids? Absolutely not! COPE is an opportunity. Not every student needs
the same things to succeed. Public schools simply do not have the time
or resources to give every individual child what they need. We do. Because
of our small classes, we actually have LESS problems than many public
schools, simply because we can prevent and intervene faster.Click here to see videos from our students!
How long will my student attend COPE? It depends on a number
of circumstances. The ultimate goal is to give your child the skills (be
it academic, social, and/or behavioral) he or she needs to return to school
successfully and continue to have success. An average length of time would
be one or two semesters.
What about transportation? Transportation is provided by the
referring school district, usually by a school bus, but occasionally by
cab or public bus.
What are the rules & discipline procedures at COPE? Our Program
Coordinators will be happy to discuss this in detail, but in general our
rules are "make an effort" and "be respectful".
How will my student get credit? COPE sends credit recommendations
back to the referring school.
Will my kid fit in? We find that our atmosphere lends kids to make
friends pretty quickly, often times with peers outside of their usual
group.
