In 2004, staff member Martha Heinrich launched an in-house art program. Our first show in the Spring of 2004 was full of student entusiasm, if not a little modest on guests. In 2005, we tripled our attendance and even auctioned off some art work (half the proceeds to the artist and half to the art program). The art program was featured at the Ypsilanti Public Library and our mural project was covered in the Ann Arbor News. Our art program is run entirely on donations. Additionally, we rely heavily on volunteers and we have had some amazing artists lend their time, talent, and supplies to our students. Currently, our founder Ms. Heinrich, has returned to school to earn a Special Education endorsement and is putting in a lot of time and effort learning the ropes as a TC. If you are interested in volunteering or donating to help keep this amazing program up and running, please contact us! Many of our students are overflowing with creativity. From making claymation videos, to painting a new mural, to learning the drums. Check out our student section to see some samples of their work. |
